Spooky Failure

I don’t want to write a long blog post about my crashing failure to finish an Inktober drawing challenge, but I still want to show off the couple drawings that I did get done.

Why did I fail? Well, given a single word as a prompt the infinite possibilities were overwhelming. To cut down the options I decided to make illustrations based on song lyrics that either include or allude to the prompt. Searching for appropriate lyrics added hours to the process, enjoyable enough, but also spare time is finite. Over-complicating the brief obviously also ended up overcomplicating the subject matter. Easy to see how one would run out of steam quickly.

It didn’t help that life got suddenly complicated and I had a lot more to deal with this month than anticipated.

Lesson learned? Maybe.

Here’s my 11.29% completed Fright-fall drawing challenge. A couple finished illustrations and a sketch. I came up with pretty decent concepts up to about mid-challenge, but they will likely never be realized.

I did get a Halloween playlist made, and I quite like it. Small victories.
